Passports
Government-issued passports come in 2 forms:
Passbook: This works for all international travel.
Passport card: This only works for travel by land or sea
Pro tip: The US State Department and most countries recommends your passport be valid for at least 6 months past your actual travel date (or 3 months for certain countries). Be sure to double-check the expiration date ahead of time!
VISA
A travel visa lets you enter and depart a specific country. You may need to get separate visas for each individual port or connection on your itinerary. Some countries don't require one at all, but it's important to always check in advance.
